This week the rainy days were over and the hot summer arrived, a real challenge both for humans and animals. We were worried especially about our older dogs. All of us tried to survive the hot weather by various means.

This week started with a series of tragedies – three of our beloved residents left us forever.
Tip of the Tip-Top duo died of babesiosis – we took her to the vet but it was already too late...

Again, we had a hell of a weather this week. Continuous, heavy rains made it difficult to work in the shelter. The animal traffic was heavy as always, and unfortunately the number of newcomers was higher than the number of those who found a new owner. But, above all, the greatest news of the week is that Nanuk, the old dog that recently had a stroke, is up and running and annoys us again with his barking!

The weather was horrible this week: the strong wind and rain gave us a hard time, but of course, life doesn't stop in the shelter.

We celebrated the International Workers’s Day with work, as usual. Luckily the weather on Saturday was as fine as all week. Just like the big spring cleaning the other day, this weekend was also dedicated to DIY, painting and cleaning. We were very happy to see how many people came to walk our dogs, who were, of course, enthusiastic about the visitors as always.

Spring has arrived at last, and so the wheather is changeable. During last week the employees of Novartis Ltd spent a day at the shelter and were busy with the cleaning and painting. At the weekend the big spring cleaning was organized. But let’s see first the stories of our new residents! Unfortunately, the animal shelter is totally full so at the moment it is very difficult to find housing for any of the unlucky, abandoned animals that are looking for a home.

During the last two weeks we had to make all the preparations for the 2nd Meeting of our Dog Adopters that was held this Sunday.

A lot of animals came under our care this week as well. Our "Cat Department" had the most difficult task, as many timid and traumatized animals are awaiting rehabilitation. However, we are optimistic as always. Let’s see our new animals!

Let's start this week's post with some great news: from April 2010 the animal shelter will be open on Sundays as well, between 10 am and 2 pm! We are looking forward to seeing you there!

The spring has arrived but unfortunately did not stay long. However, we are looking forward to its coming, many people visited us this week, and school groups contacted us and asked about the possibility of visiting the shelter. The animals are also happy to see the snow and the mud disappear.

This week donations for the animals living in our shelter kept coming. The shelter made a public announcement at the beginning of February that the supply of our ca. 650 animals was in danger as our food resources were depleted and we faced day-to-day problems feeding our animals.
