A trip to Szilvásvárad
2010.09.16.

Our faithful readers and volunteers know very well that every year we organize one or two field trips where all animal lovers can come together. These trips target the most beautiful places in Hungary. This time we picked Szilvásvárad, where we had a good time, and luckily, also a nice weather.

Saturday night we were afraid that the trip will be cancelled as the pouring rain gave us a hard time at the shelter. Next morning, however, the sun was shining, so we left the shelter together at 8.30 and the long caravan of cars was headed at Szilvásvárad, where our friends Csilla and Börni were waiting for us.

The Szalajka-valley is one of the most popular targets of the tourists, where visitors can enjoy the beauties of nature as well as the fresh air and the tranquility. The small streams, waterfalls and fishing lakes offered a marvellous sight. The dogs – who, of course, accompanied us – enjoyed the 1.5 miles walking to the railway station, were running around in joy and wanted to see and sniff every little stone.

At the end station of the children's railway the group split into two – some chose walking back, the others took the train instead. Anyway, everyone enjoyed the sight and the company.

After this visit to the Szalajka-valley we found a restaurant where we tasted the local speciality, the trout. In the afternoon we paid a visit to the nearby Szépasszony-valley as well before we left home.

It was a very nice trip, and we hope that next time even more animal lovers will join us!
