Sárospatak – it is saddening that this wonderful township’s name has welded together with one of the biggest problems in Hungary namely with animal cruelty. At the dog shelter in Sárosparatak there are about 500 dogs who live their life in sickness, because of the fights between each other they live in stress and in danger. Practically all of the female dogs are pregnant so the number of dogs at the shelter could multiply within days. The irresponsible dog collecting has changed the shelter into a horror farm. Thanks to the volunteer workers of the Hangya közösség the situation was brought to light and the rescue mission was started. We started organizing the rescue of the dogs, the spaying of the pregnant females and normalize the situation with all parties involved.
The Noah animal home started to help them. In the name of our help project we started to chip the dogs so they can be identified. We also took in 4 pregnant female dogs whom were neutered right away. They are in the quarantine kennels and under extra strict rules because at the shelter in Sárospatak you can find dreadful diseases that we don’t even want to mention names. A large number of dogs have the itch, full of fleas, have fungous, suffer from distemper or other unknown infections. There are lot of dogs in serious condition that have not been treated. Lot of puppies suffer from Parvo disease. And we are only talking about the dogs because we were informed that there are cats and other animals at this shelter.
We would like to thank to the Hangya közösség and the Lelenc dog rescue association for working to solve this horrible situation. We would also like to thank everyone who helped one way or another.
Of course the Noah animal home will continually take part in the rescue work but it CAN ONLY HAPPEN WITH YOUR HELP!
