Dog Log 11.03-31.03.2013
2013.04.05.

In our previous webdiary it was inconsiderate to say that spring was here. It was just showing itself and then the bear went back into its cave and we got a lot of snow and winter. We have not missed it. Please, we don’t want any more!
Please sing a children song “Süss fel nap” (Dear sun, please shine) every day as a prayer!

In the last few weeks there were also some dogs who can celebrate Easter by a new host.

Our dog, Zúzó, gave us many joyful moments during the week he spent with us. The new hosts are really happy.

Irina

Inka

Elba

Gyáli Panka

Our dog, Közért, who was advertised in our last webdiary was lucky to have new hosts now.

Pali, the puli who came back after two years because he hadn’t bark. Fortunately he found new hosts very fast.

Szellő was so hyperactive that it was really hard to find a new host for him but in the end he succeeded.

Baxter, the puppy

Csengő, the Hungarian pointer who came back from hosts was lucky to find new hosts with two beagles.

Tixy, the jagd terrier, who came to our place with a broken leg in November 2011.

He spent Easter with a loving family.

New hosts were waiting for Csuli.

But we got some new pets as well. We had some lucky protégées who spent just a few days with us. They have found their original hosts and they were chipped because it is obligatory since 1st January 2013. for every dog who is older than four months.

Navigátor (Alex) came to our place at the beginning of January from the forest is Csévharaszt. It is possible that he was afraid of cartridges. It last for a week, but thanks for the posters made by the original hosts and a volunteer who lives in the surroundings they have found each other.

Totem (Zsiga) is a young, large breed, mixed male. He was found on 19/03/2013 in the 17th district in Orgoványi Street. Thanks for searching him via Facebook and our webpage the original host came for him.

Hóvirág (Suzy) was found in Pécel where a car was running over her. An eyewitness took her to the vet. Fortunately she hasn’t got any serious injury. After a few days her original host was found her.

Kitty (Foltos) is maybe a mixed Pumi feamale who was on a waiting list. Her host was too old to take care of her because she has lots of energy. She is faithful and devoted. She would sell her soul for a petting. She loves when her tummy is petted. She loves children and she is patient with them. She can walk on the leash and travel in a car. She gets on well with males but sometimes she argues with other females or smaller dogs. We offer her to be the only dog in the family or live together with a larger breed male. She is mistrustful and suspicious with man. She hates cats. She is a good watch dog.
She is so devoted that she can escape (walk through the fence) to catch her hosts when she is left alone. If you have a house with a garden, please keep her inside! It is also important that she needs someone to walk with a lot. Kitty is seeking for a new home vaccinated, spayed and chipped.

Bendegúz is a huge, blind puppy. He was found next to Maglód on route 31 yesterday (20/03/2013). He was sitting in the middle of the road. He was confused and didn’t know where he was. He wasn’t chipped. We took him to the vet immediately where it turned out that his blindness is not new. He doesn’t see anything and his eyes are shrinking. He is as cute, kind and loves to hide as huge and hysterical. We haven’t found his original hosts so we are searching for a new home. After some examination it turned out that his blindness originates from genetics.

Gergő is a beagle who has arrived on 12th March. A car was run over him in Pásztó. He was shocked and his leg was broken. His founder took him to the vet but he hadn’t got any money to pay an X-ray. The only alternative was to get him sleep if the vet took the corpse away for free. Unfortunately nobody could pay his operation or take him home. After the first night the healing force of his body could deal with the shock but it was critical. After this he arrived to NOÉ Pet home.

His broken leg was plastered:

His original host hasn’t turn up so he is seeking for a new home.

Axe and Nívea are Pincher like dogs who were found next to the road to the Pet home (Budapest, 17th district, the corner of Péceli and Korsó Street). They were shivering and scared that they couldn’t breathe. They are beautiful and kind but they aren’t chipped or don’t have any identification signs. Their fears were quickly dissolved and now they are real lapdogs. We haven’t found their original hosts. As they love each other they can go to a new place only together.

Varga is a small, terrier like dog that was found in the 17th district in Almásháza Street on 16/03/2013. We haven’t found his original hosts so he is seeking for a new home.

C4 is the newest member of our pensioner club. She is an old, large breed; German Shepard mixed dog who was found in Hang Street in the 10th district on 18 March 2013. She wasn’t chipped or didn’t have any identification sign. We haven’t found her original hosts so she is seeking for a new home!

Christie was found in Gyál next to the forest on 13 March. We picked out so many tickles from her body. She is lucky that she wasn’t contaminated by babesia. She was operated because she had many herineas. During the operation it turned out that she was pregnant. She had neither a collar nor a chip. We haven’t found her original hosts so she is seeking for a new home vaccinated and chipped.

Unfortunately we also have some dogs that came back! 
Jimi was born in 2000. He is a Hungarian Pointer whose temple is turning to grey. He was born at our place and now he is back. He is old and moves slow but he is still active and communicative. He is affectionate and kind. He is a member of the pensioned club in our farm area but it would be better to have a comfortable couch and lots of love for his old days. Jimi is vaccinated and chipped.

Family Dömi – Dalma was a puppy- with her three brothers and sisters came to our place and then they were adopted really fast. Now she grew up and maybe she was a burden of the family, they got bored with her or they didn’t want this? Or the date of the obligatory spaying came and they didn’t want to pay for it. It wouldn’t turn out but it’s sure that Dalma is here. Now she is insecure because she doesn’t know what is going to happen. It’s so sad!  Dalma is vaccinated, spayed and chipped.

Family Cirkuszos (Artist) - the mother of Betty came to our place in 2010. The mother gave life to the puppies under a caravan not far from Péceli Street. It turned out that her owner was a gypsy who sells everything. They turned up and asked us to give her back. She usually went to the fairs with her hosts and once she lost. She was a “homeless” for such a long time until the dog rescue group from Cegléd adopted her. Since she got a chip it turned out that the owner was NOÉ Pet home. So she came back to our place in March 2013. Betty is a well socialized, kind and friendly dog. She gets on well with other dogs. She is adaptive. She knows the leash and walks with it skillfully. She is vaccinated, spayed and chipped.

Emőke came to our place on a Sunday. Some friends of animals found her on the street. They took to the Pet home where one of our volunteers fall in love with her and took her home immediately.

Living for the horses wasn’t uneventful. For example something is always happening with Debbi…
Our horse rescue group had some calm weeks. We were wondering what had happened why we didn’t have to call Dr. Kerekes. On a Friday evening when the herd came back from the pasture Debi thought it’s easier to jump over the stage instead of going around it as the other horses usually do. If you have visited us, you may know that we have more than 1000 free acres but she would jump just on that 8x8 m place. It was also a complicating factor that it was raining for days before. Naturally Debi failed the jump. Moreover she was felling. Everyone can imagine how awful was it to see this huge animal laying on the ground helplessly that couldn’t stand again because she was scared and the soil was slippery. Moreover the cover of the stage was broken and Debbi’s hind legs were wounded. We tried to calm her and help her to stand up. Naturally we called Dr. Kerekes who arrived in 40 minutes from the other side of the city. Thanks again for your great help! After the examination and disinfection he bindeth up the bleeding leg. The diagnosis was exasperating: the wound is so deep that broke the muscles until the tendon. In this case the wound can’t be sewed and Debbi should stay in the stall for at least 2-3 months. We have to bandage her for a few long weeks. So we really need some “colored, sticky strips” or elastic adhesive bandage which is wide (10-15 cm). It would be also great to have some special food for her which is good for horses that have to take a rest in the stall. We also need some carrots or apples that you can give her personally with some healing kisses.

Unfortunately we should say good bye again…
Uncle Sanyi went away by his car… 
He was the most tamed giant. He came to our place last year when he really old was. We picked him up from the street with crippled hind legs. He didn’t understand what had happened but he was patient, he trusted in us and loved everything from the beginning. The vet told us that he had some spinal problems. He was operated. He was better after it, but he never stand on both feet. He tried to be fit and he was a real vital charmer. It was a problem sometimes that he had escaped from his place and we found him next to the horses or the pigs. Sometimes he just went for sunbathing and watched what was happening on the farmyard. The wagon wheel was a breakthrough in his life. With it he could go on long walks again. Many people loved him, so sometimes our volunteers helped him to walk with the wagon wheel. –Thanks a lot for it! A few weeks ago we realized that he is weak, it was harder to walk, he eats less and it is going to be the end of his life. Yesterday he went over the rainbow with his wagon wheel and now he is running happily with the others as he did when he young was.
This beautiful dog whose hair was turning to grey was the face of NOÉ Pethome. You could see him many times on Facebook (now he is on the cover), on the cars of NOÉ, on the tram, bus, on our flyers and many other places. He gave us his love not only in real life but he gives a lot now as well. He will stay with us till the end of time both in our heart and on the pictures. Thank you to let us know him!

Not the first swallow of spring but the first boar has arrived to NOÉ Pethome. This striped dude just walked alone one day to a yard. His mother didn’t come for four days so now he lives with us. This teeny-weeny boar couldn’t get any other name but Monk. He is sleeping now after eating and loving him.

Between guards

If you visit us on 14 April on NOÉ’s adaptation day sure you’ll love him! But take care! You would melt because of his cuteness!
Some among our programs:
On 23 March our volunteers made a day to prepare for Easter and springtime in CSILI House of Culture. The organizers waited for you as a Creative Family Day before Easter and our volunteers waited for you with a petting place with bunnies.

Our education group held lectures for three different age groups at SEK Óvoda, Általános Iskola és Gimnázium (SEK Kindergarten, Primary School and High School) as a pre-program of Earth Day. The lecture was about how to take care of animals, animal protection and respect nature.

Children were really enthusiastic on the interactive presentation.

A gyerekek nagy lelkesedéssel vettek részt az interaktív előadáson.

The NOÉ Pet home Foundation advertises a Bunny STOP! Campaign again as Easter is coming. In the last few years our foundation adopted Easter bunnies, chickens, and ducks but as time passes by we had a conclusion.

It turned out that 85%-90% people bought bunnies and other pets for their children at Easter because they knew that many organizations would adopt them after holiday. So they were only temporary hosts for the pets. They didn’t really want to take care of them so they didn’t care of the circumstances where animals were living.
Our foundation thought to adopt these pets after holidays would just empower people to buy more and more pets. So we decided NOT to adopt them this year. We don’t want anybody to think that pets are just for advertising Easter.
Because of bad weather conditions our Easter program was cancelled on 30 March.

Don’t be sad! On 14 April we are waiting for you (who are just interested, want to adopt) as the 5th Adaptation Day and NOÉ meeting.

There is also going to be a beauty contest for mixed dogs. We are waiting for every dog who was adopted from us or from any other organization, street etc.

You have to know that you could help a lot with rescuing. It was also your work that Gergő is still alive or the other dogs could be examined/operated etc. Without your support and help we couldn’t manage this! You are also a part of the miracle!
You can be a volunteer, a temporary host, a visitor who walks with the dogs on Saturday or you can donate us food or money. The pets need every helping hand!
