Let’s see what happened to our Horse Saving Team in 2012.
2013.03.12.

Debi is a real MIRACLE: first of all she fits into our desabled herd perfectly and secondly something always happenes to her, she is a real loser  but this is why we love her!

She is blind on one eye, and she arrived after a very serious metritis but her owner couldn’t afford to pay her expensive hernia surgery. Horse lover founders helped us to pay her surgery which was held at the Large Animal Clinic in Üllő.

Recovering from the surgery we thought we could have some relief but Debi had some more problems with her returning metritis which needed further threatments. In the meantime she had a serious eye infection, hoof abscess, swollen tarsal and so on. Her medical records look like a screen-play of a Brasilian soap opera.

Menthol ( the lover, but let’s talk about it later) the male pony arrived as he had lung problems.
Menthol’s basically asymptomatic, he was castrated and something happened that we never even dreamt about: he found his real love, Carmen.

Puncs was found in Hévizgyörk where he walked into a farm. Vácszentlászló Animal Controller asked our help because no one knew in the area whose pony she was.
A few days later her owner called us and it turned out that they had bought her a few days earlier so Puncs hadn’t found her way home after she had accidentally run away. Finally she could go home and her owner promised they would take better care of her.

A lot of things happened to the other members of the herd too.

Carmen was declared to be healthy and she could join to the main herd.

We reorganized the herd as we didn’t have enough space in the stable for the ponies to be there just because we couldn’t accopanied them to the herd because of some renitents. The renitents: Kölyök, Vipera and Basa were separated and since then all the horses have lived their everyday lives together.

Birs’s hoof infection got so bad that he needed medical horseshoes. Since then she has needed to be seated while shoeing because she can’t stand the situation.

Palkó and Koksz have had to get steroid several times this year.

Palkó had a hoof dermis infection as well which was fortunately not too serious

Oue horses have had several tooth rasping too.

And the whole herd had conjunctivitis as well.

Diana, the oldest memeber of the herd didn’t let us relax. She had esophageal obstruction, several hoof abscesses, lameness so she has spent more time in her box than out there. Well, she is not getting younger either…

By the way boxes. One of or biggest dream came true. Three real boxes were finished int he stable especially for our horses, in which three elders ( Debi, Barbie and Diana) could spend winter and a bigger box was finished for mixed use ( we have already kept a dog, a lama, a horse, a goat etc. in it).

There was a construction at our horses’ pasture where a half roof was built against sunshine and rain.

Our nourishment store got a fence and door against Cucu our pig.

We received a lot of donations last year as well. We got several horse covers from England, a lot of things for Animal’s Christmas Fest and we got a big donation from Decathlon Department Store as well.

Because of the summer drought forage prices are very high we had to limit the number of new arrivals as buying forage for our horses was already too much for our empty wallet. We hope that 2013 will be a bit more propitious to us and we can save more horses.

Let’s see 2012 in numbers:
