Christmas 2008

First huge surprise and move of the Support Club took place in December 2008, at the Noé Animal Shelter Christmas. Several months of collecting, meetings and organisation was needed before getting the presents, nice and slowly thinking of everyone at the animal shelter. We were looking forward so much to the weekend before Christmas, as the joint “Wrap the presents” day was planned for this weekend.
One week before the big they we got together and gift wrapped together everything. We wrapped separately the veterinary medications, bandages and medical stuff. We also wrapped up for the cats some dry and canned food, toys; dog-collars, leash, dog food and toys for the dogs.
The birds were not missing out either; they got lots of nice seeds and a feeder. We did not forget about the horses, we bought brushes for them, and we wrapped our food and other presents for the rodents. In a separate box we wrapped the gifts we bought for easing the daily job of the caretakers e.g. washing up set, broomstick, cleaning materials, brushes, etc... We collected huge amounts of bed-linen, towels, which is much needed in the animal shelter. The “Wrap the presents” day went extremely well, it meant not only work but great fun for those 6-8 people. We done our job, while having great fun. All boxes were wrapped in really colourful, Christmassy packaging. We could hardly wait for the announced day for setting up together the Christmas tree.

Finally our big day came, when we loaded the packages to a van, and we placed a poster saying “The Noé Support Club wishing you a Merry Christmas” and we reversed our van in the courtyard. We have also prepared a gift basket for the caretakers and founders, full of nice delicacies. We said thank you to them for their devotional work, which they carried out imperturbably in order to protect their little friends.
It was a great day, it was great to give and help. We hope we can organise lots more pleasant surprises like this to the Noé Animal Shelter in the future.
