Cat of the Week - Nera
2013.06.04.
Hi! I’d like to introduce myself, I’m Nera, the beautiful girl from the three black kitties who were given to the shelter. The story is that some people took us – me and my two brothers - to Noe Animal Shelter because they noticed that we needed help, otherwise we didn’t have much chance for life. Later the vet said that it was a keen insight.
We couldn’t stay there because we were too small, ill and unprotected, so we came here by car in a big box. We were a bit scared so we huddled together and waited for arriving at our home. Because we didn’t have one before. Then it turned out that this one is not that yet, but kind of a temporary one where we can stay until someone falls in love with us and decides that they want us to belong to their family. Luckily, our host mum likes us a lot and explained to us that we can stay as long as it’s needed, but she’d prefer if we had a real home with a REAL owner.

1. When we arrived (I’m in the middle)

Well, the beginning wasn’t easy, they took us to the vet immediately, and our host mum told him to cure us. He promised to try everything, we were given infusion, antibiotics and some kind of pasta. Then we were put back to the box and we slept a lot. We were also given hot water bottles and soft covers. A few days later our host mum told us that we were healthy again, so we didn’t have to be fed by a syringe and she wouldn’t sleep with us anymore. Since then on we’ve got delicious canned food to eat and now we even get dry food like big cats.

2. I eat like this! Well, my head is a bit covered with food but it will be better soon.

I use the litter box perfectly, I only have to be shown the place of the litter box and I use it from then. My fur is completely black, my legs are long, my host mum said that I’d be a very beautiful cat lady, elegant, slim and womanly. As if I wasn’t like that now… Pfff. My situation isn’t easy because my two brothers are much bigger and stronger than me, and because of being badly brought up, they have no idea how to behave with a lady. But I’ll teach them, there will be equal rights for women! If they think that they can fool me just because I’m smaller and weaker and being a girl, they’re totally wrong. I’ve even started training!

3. Shh, I don’t fully understand how to use it so I’m just sitting here, that’s also really scary.

I love doing sports, playing, running and I’m very nimble. We got toys and balls, the yellow one is my favourite, my host mum told me that I can take it with me when I move. I’m getting smarter in climbing everything, eg. I’ve broken the time record on climbing my host mum’s jeans. She also likes it a lot because she’s screaming when I’m doing it.

4. My favourite ball

So I like it here but I’d prefer a real home. I’m five weeks old now, self-supporting so I can have my real owner. It would be really nice if I could move with my brother Noir, because, you know, he’s a guy and he sometimes needs a woman’s help. Besides, I love to play with him and two cats are hardly more than one. And my host mum said that the owner will have two slippers, so it can’t be a difficulty either.

5. I and my brother always share the slippers evenly

I’m getting tired now, it was a long day, so I’m going to sleep. The best way to spend the evening is that my host mum puts me into my sleeping place, rubs my tummy, tells me stories about kitties and I fall asleep very quickly. There’re some really exciting ones among them, but I never remember the end of any of them. Before falling asleep I ask what the REAL owner is like and it’s what I also have in mind. First, they love me very much. Secondly, they look after me, provide that I grow up in a good and safe environment and take responsibility for me for my whole life. Thirdly, if I need medical treatment, they provide that to me too. Besides, they play with me a lot, pat and praise me when I do something smart and don’t get angry when I do something a bit naughty (if it’s very naughty, it can be different…).
